Reviews
Just had a phenomenal meal here with my family! We tried a ton of different dishes and I think we’d order almost everything again. The pork buns were great, the tuna crispy rice was great, the k-fries were probably our favorite appetizer, and I LOVED the short ribs. We also had great drinks (one of the best painkillers I’ve had!). Our server Ceili was super attentive and friendly, checking in on us to see if we needed anything and refilling our waters frequently.
The only thing I wouldn’t recommend are the Brussels sprouts and I didn’t love the chocolate desserts.
Really interesting menu — I wanted to try it all!
We ordered a main & 2 hot dishes and they were all delicious. The flavor profile for all of them were not what I expected in a really good way! The dishes can get quite spicy so definitely moderate if you know you can’t tolerate spice.
Service was fine, we didn’t really interact. There’s an additional 2.5% kitchen fee. Interestingly the suggested tips are calculated after tax minus the kitchen fee.
I’ll definitely be returning to try the other dishes!
Fried chicken bao buns, lobster rangoon, and painkiller drink shown in the pictures. The painkiller was one of the best drinks I've ever had with spiced rum.
I chose banyan bar for dinner before a show at BCA next door. The happy hour dumplings and spring rolls were delicious. We ordered a ton of food for 2 people but we were happy that we did. In addition to the food above, we also got the pork belly scallion pancake and smashed cucumbers. We didn't have room for dessert but I definitely would come back here if we are in the area again.
I haven’t been in this space since it was the beautiful Hamersley Bistro a decade ago. Although it couldn’t be more different, it is still a very nice space. It was pleasantly crowded on a Friday night but the bar did clear out by about 9.
The food was good, particularly the bao. I tried both the pork bun and the fried chicken bun and enjoyed them both. The tuna crisp was not as good as the bao and my friend complained that the whole fish was over sauced.
Service was distant. Our waitress seemed eager to take our order and move on. There weren’t the regular pleasantries. I did however have a nice exchange with the host on the way out.
Bottom line: it’s a fun location with a lively atmosphere. Food is good, particularly the buns. It’s a good place to grab a few small bites and some cocktails.
WHITE LOTUS WHITE LOTUS WHITE LOTUS
Went here with my gfs for dinner and drinks and I was blown away. We had a variety of baos and the ahi tuna. The best was the white lotus lychee martinis- we loved them. The vibe was moody and beuatiful. Music was great, but still able to hear everyone. I will be coming back!
A beautiful place at a great location. The food is great and the cocktail is fantastic. The service is a little bit slow but we got everything we needed at least. The amount of food is not consistent tho, sometimes the bao is smaller than regular. A little bit overpriced like 2 small bao for 15 dollars.
Overall it’s a nice place to hang out with friends
About a month ago, I went to Banyan and got a call from the manager 10 minutes after leaving. He said the server ran the wrong card for my table, but “don’t worry, we already fixed it.” I asked what the solution was and he said he already ran my card again for the new total, which was about $50 more than what I signed for. He played it off that he was just doing me a favor by calling so I wasn’t confused when I saw my credit card statement.
To my knowledge, a restaurant cannot change the total after you sign the check. It’s a shame because my boyfriend loves this place and I did my last birthday dinner there, but this was a very startling experience and I don’t plan to go back.
My wife and I had a date night here. I enjoyed the wildfire and my wife thought the frosé was delicious.
My favourite dish was the pork belly bao but the empanada was quite nice also. The smashed cucumber had a nice bit of heat.
There is an outdoor area but we appreciated the indoor seating below the wonderful floral decor.
